The Greene County girls track and field team won the title at the Carroll Coed Invitational track and field meet April 15 in Carroll. Team scoring at the end of a cold, chilly night found the Rams with 154.5 points. Carroll finished second with 135 points. Other team scores were MVAO (Maple Valley) at 92, Audubon with 90, Woodward-Granger with 56, IKM-Manning at 52.5 and Perry with nine points.
Allison Higgins won both the 1,500 meter run and the 3,000 meter run as she did at the Kip Janvrin Invitational last week. Her times in Carroll were 5:33.20 in the shorter run and 11:59.90 in the longer run. Other first place finishes for the Rams were in the 4 X 200 m relay, Emma Saddoris, Olivia Hansen, Nadia Fisher and Emily Christensen, 1:59.91; 4 X 400 m relay, Hansen, Saddoris, Christensen and Eme Johnson in 4:27.09; the 4 X 800 m relay, Hansen, Noelle Gray, Jolee Wessling and Christensen in 10:54.64; and the shuttle hurdle relay, Johnson, Sarah Sandage, Fisher and Kate Sandage, 1:10.10.
In field events, Fisher placed first in the high jump at 5’1”, and Saddoris placed first in the long jump with a leap of 15/ 2-1/2”.
On the boys’ side, Carroll won with 119 points, followed by IKM-Manning with 96, Greene County right behind with 95, Perry at 70/5, Woodward-Granger at 57, MVAO at 42, Audubon and 35.5 and Glidden-Ralston with 13 points.
Roman Phillips was the Ram leader with first place finishes in the 100 meter dash in a time of :11.83, and in the 200 meter dash in a time of :23.47.
